In America The early performing arts accomplishments of young Maureen FitzSimons (who we know as Maureen O'Hara) would definitely have put her in the child prodigy category. But for a person with Irish heritage surrounded by gifted parents and a loving family, those were not innate traits. Maureen was welcomed into the family-oriented house on August 17th, 20 in Ranelagh. Marguerita FitzSimons' mother, Lilburn, was a contralto. The father of her, Charles FitzSimons, managed an enterprise in Dublin and also owned part of the famous Irish football team "The Shamrock Rovers." Maureen FitzSimons was the daughter of Charles FitzSimons. Peggy, Florrie Charles B. Fitzsimons Margot Fitzsimons completed this lovely family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and was a gruelling athlete in sports when she was a young. This naturally-born interest with her ability for performing was remarkable. She won almost every Feis Award for Theatre and Drama the country could provide. As she reached the age of 14 the Abbey Theater accepted her and let her live her passion for classical theatre and singing opera.
